Since the beginning of 'Team Lookout,' Scout was a serious contender in the Sporting Group and Best In Show Competition with 48 Best in Show and Specialty wins. However, that was just the beginning of a luxurious career for Scout, we can already see the exceptional stars coming from his progeny.
Helen has been in the breed over 40 years, having acquired her first German Wirehaired Pointer after owning Irish Setters. Little did she know just what a special dog her second GWP, Duff, would become. Helen and Duff went on to win Best in Specialty Show at the 1987 GWPCA National Specialty Show from the veteran classes as well as multiple Best in Shows and over 50 Group Wins along the way. Having bred and owned well over 100 conformation champions as well as multiple Best in Show winners, National Best in Specialty Show winners, and performance titles. The exuberant attitudes and scruffy faces have kept Helen involved with the breed. More importantly than show titles, the GWPs that come from Lookout Kennels are wonderful family pets and outstanding representatives of the breed.
Lookout Kennels 'formerly known as Ripsnorter's Kennel', represents over 40 years of breeding quality dual purpose German Wirehaired Pointers, but it also represents more to the dedicated owners. Lookout Kennels came about with the union of another great team, James and Helen Witt. Jim and Helen wanted to start something new; they wanted this new kennel to represent the years of dedication that Helen has put into the breed as Ripsnorter Kennels, which over the years has become one of the most respected names in the breed, as well as all the plans they have for their bright future.
This future became a little brighter when Jim Witt picked out the future star of Lookout Kennels, GCH Ripsnorter's Mt. View Lookout JH ROM, 'Scout'. What started out as a hunting and six-wheeling buddy turned into one of the top stars and producers of the breed. Scout depicts 'The Standard' with his exceptional type, conformation, outstanding movement, and correct coat. The Witt's, along with co-owner Joyce Wilkinson, began to construct a team with integrity, stamina, determination, and talent to campaign Scout. This search led them to Frank Murphy, Rhanda Glenn, and Kiki Courtelis - Team Lookout.
